Herbalife Nutrition At Work Survey Reveals Filipino Millennials Desire Healthy, Active Workplace Environment

While the survey conducted reveals that more Filipino millennials are engaging in regular physical activities outside work, they find it difficult to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle in the modern workplace.

PHILIPPINES, October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey1, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83 percent or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

With the millennial generation expected to make up 50 percent of the global workforce by 2020, ensuring the wellbeing of millennials will be important to improving workplace productivity. “There are about 35 million millennials now in the Philippines, which is about one-third of the country’s entire population. Five years from now, millennials will be dominating the labor force. While most millennials want to lead healthy lives, they face real obstacles at work in doing so,” said Rosalio Valenzuela, Herbalife Philippines General Manager. “At Herbalife Nutrition, we provide our employees with nutrition products at work, subsidize gym memberships, hold regular wellness programs related to nutrition and well-being, and encourage participation in outdoor activities and sports competitions.”

Additionally, the survey findings revealed the following:

Seven (7) out of 10 millennials strive to live healthy, active lives
However, the majority of millennials find it challenging to maintain an active lifestyle at work – eight (8) out of 10 millennials spend 6 to 13 hours at their work desk each day, and 64% of millennials get less than 30 minutes of physical activity - including standing, stretching and walking at work on an average work day.
Additionally, 64% of millennials cited the “lack of time” as the key obstacle to engaging in physical activity at work.

To provide tips on how millennials and their employers can integrate positive nutrition and life style habits at their workplaces, Herbalife Nutrition has organized a sixth Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past five tours that welcomed over 100, 000  participants. Five experts from the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) are scheduled to tour 21 Asian cities from October 7 to 30, to hold a series of talks, workshops and medical symposia across the region.

“Through these efforts, we hope to equip organizations and employees with the right tools to collectively build a healthier work environment across Asia Pacific,” said Valenzuela.

Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D., a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, will be visiting Manila for the Asia Pacific Wellness Tour this October. Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D. will also be sharing expert advice on how millennials can adopt simple positive nutrition and lifestyle habits at work to improve their overall well-being in the long run.

Some of the tips to help foster a healthier millennial workforce include:

Nutrition
  • Dedicate a healthy eating day each week and get colleagues involved in making healthy choices for lunch on this day.
  • Boost water intake to help the body digest food, rid the body of toxins, and help deliver nutrients to the cells. Drink at least eight (8) glasses or two (2) liters of water a day.
  • Have a protein shake combined with non-fat milk and healthy fruit for breakfast. With 20-30 grams of protein and low-fat contents, it can provide the body with all the nutrition it needs to power through the day.
Active Living
  • Create a playlist that incorporates upbeat music and play with hourly intervals.
  • Use Running Apps to keep energized and on-pace during regular runs.
  • Set a goal to join running competitions to motivate self to sustain an active lifestyle.

Vita Cubes 2 Good Fun Day

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

Last Saturday, we joined the Vita Cubes 2 Good Fun Day held at Active Fun BGC. I brought my entire family along with me; hubby and my two kids.

We arrived there just in time. There were few people that moment so we were able to take a good shot of the venue. I love the colorful theme. You'll see red, green, purple, orange and yellow all around which also represents the different Vita Cubes fruit flavors.

Vita Cubes Decor

We don't allow our kids to eat too much candy. We want them to avoid it as much as possible. As we all know, sugar and other additional ingredients may carry certain health risks. We even came to a certain point where we would only allow our eldest son to have candies on weekends. This was when we were trying to help him get away with it. Well, it pays off because he doesn't usually asks for candies.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

This event was our first encounter with Vita Cubes. We've been seeing it in local drugstores and I remember one time, my son asked me to buy him but I didn't permit. It's funny because I told him it's not a candy.

So what really is Vita Cubes?

Vita Cubes Candy Booth

Vita Cubes are cube-shaped jelly candies that come in five different fruit flavors - strawberry, apple, grape, orange, and mango.

Aside from having delicious taste, Vita Cubes is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals that are important for growing chidren.

LYSINE
Contains 79% of the child's RENI. Aids the body in proper growth and energy production. Also helps in calcium absorption.

ZINC
Contains 70% of the child’s RENI. Zinc is also known to help in proper functioning of the immune and digestive systems, energy metabolism, and in increasing the rate of healing for wounds.

VIT. A
Contains 40% of the child’s RENI. Helps in increasing body's immunity to fight infections. Also plays an important role in ensuring healthy eyes and bone development.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

VIT. B
Supplies 30-70% of the child’s RENI. Promotes growth and strength. Stimulates child’s memory in their formative years. Helps boost the oxygen circulation in the body, especially the brain, which in turn will improve concentration. Helps convert carbohydrates and fats into energy.

VIT. C
Supplies 30% of the child’s RENI. Helps form and repair red blood cells, bones, and tissues. Helps your child’s gums stay healthy. Strengthens your child’s blood vessels, minimizing bruising from falls and scrapes. Helps cuts and wounds heal, boost the immune system, and keeps infections at bay. Helps the body absorb iron from food sources.

VIT. E
Supplies 45% of the child’s RENI. Boosts the immune system and helps the body fight germs. Keeps blood vessels open wide enough for blood to flow freely. Helps the cells of the body work together to perform many important functions.

When I found out about all these vitamin contents, it's like Wow! This candy is something that I can give to my kids without feeling guilty.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

Fellow Mommy blogger, Mommy Frances of Topaz Horizon was our guest and she shared about how her kids love Vita Cubes. I also had a photo op with her.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

The kids enjoyed the games and activites prepared for them. My son who is very competitive joined almost all the games. He got consolation prizes and when he won the longest voice, he took home these goodies.

Competitive Gabi

There was a cake booth near the entrance and each kid was given a square cake for them to decorate and eat. My second son, Gael enjoyed this multi-layed cake decorated by his Kuya. They both devoured it.

Vita Cubes Cake Booth

There was a Flipbook Booth where you can have your photos taken. This is not the usual photobooth. This is something new to us and we were amazed! At first we were wondering what will be the outcome of the pictures since we were told by the photographer to do different moves/poses every second. When we saw the flipbook, it was really nice! If you flip it, it's like the pictures are moving because of the different shots. My son even had a second round to have his own, solo flipbook.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

We were also entertained by a magician who performed some tricks and illusions. The kids were all attentive and were really amazed.

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

The fun didn't end there because the kids were also given an hour free pass inside Active Fun! My son really had a great time.

If the kids enjoyed this fun-filled event, so as the mommies and daddies. I met fellow mommy bloggers and it was nice to finally see them face to face. I must admit, I love this community!

Vita Cubes 2Good Fun Day

Thanks to Vita Cubes and Mommy Bloggers PH for this wonderful treat!

Key Money Strategies:

I have a lot of learnings from this event. I'm really inspired to raise money smart kids and be intentional in teaching them about finances especially that I have two boys who will become future leaders. I just can't wait for my son's first investment! I'm more confident now because I have a better idea on where to jump start his investment.

I never knew that kids should have their own savings account as early as the day they were born. My two boys doesn't have their own accounts yet but this is something that we will consider and pray about. I also like the idea of cutting their financial umbilical cord once they graduate. This will help them to become independent and responsible individuals. "Raising your children with HIGH FQ is arming them with Economic self-defense!".

I'm glad it's never too late to learn all these things. I'm so blessed to be in this event. Many thanks to Aina Marie De Roxas and Eugene Sugian of Lancaster New City for having me.
