Filipino Biography: Emilio Aguinaldo

Emilio Aguinaldo

Emilio Aguinaldo was our next in our Filipino Biography. We were discussing whether he is indeed a hero or not because he ordered the execution of Andres Bonifacio, the Katipunan's Supremo.

Here, I am summarizing his contributions to our country and we will leave the question to you, whether he is indeed a hero or not.

  • He was a cabeza de barangay (barrio captain) for eight years and a municipal captain or town mayor. Later he used his political skill to organize the Filipino people to revolt against Spain.
  • He joined the Masonry, a secret society that valued "liberty, equality, and fraternity". He also decided to join the Katipunan movement. He took great risks in getting as many people as possible to join the Masonry and the Katipunan.
  • He and his Katipuneros captured the town hall in Kawit from Spanish Control and he became the Military commander of the rebels in Cavite.
  • He defended many towns in Cavite and others in nearby Batangas and was able to drive back the Spanish forces.
  • He was so successful at winning battles that he was able to proclaim the Philippines an independent nation on June 12, 1989.
  • He was chosen as the President of the new revolutionary government.
  • He took an oath of allegiance to the United States after he was captured by the Macabebe.

So that's it! Please standby for our next Filipino Biography.

REVIEW: KB Alpha Arbutin Silver Soap

When I reached the age 30s, make-up is no longer my priority. I want less make-up nowadays but more to skin care. I guess it's the perfect time to take skin care seriously because I am not getting any younger. Although aging is inevitable, taking care of the skin is still a must. Thus, this explains why I am always on a quest to search the best products for me and of course my pocket.

I am blessed to receive this KB Alpha Arbutin SIlver Soap from Yumei Mi-se to try out.

KB Alpha Arbutin SIlver Soap

It contains alpha arbutin to highly whiten skin, hyaluronic acid to keep moisture levels and resist fine line and wrinkles; and ovary peptide from fish collagen to maximize body’s collagen for a supple and firm skin.

What is Alpha-Arbutin?

Alpha-Arbutin is a pure and active skin brightener ingredient that offers higher stability and efficacy by safely blocking epidermal melanin biosynthesis that causes skin color. KB Silver injects a generous amount of Alpha-Arbutin for a faster and safer way of skin lightening.

KB Alpha Arbutin SIlver Soap

KB Alpha Arbutin SIlver Soap

HOW TO USE:

Rub KB Silver Soap on wet hands or loofah to work up a lather. Gently massage lather on your skin in a circular motion. Rinse.

SRP:

Php 295.00 per 60g

VERDICT:

I've been using this soap on my face for a month now. It visibly whitens and brightens my skin with no peeling. There is no strong, stinging smell which for me is good. I love that it can be used for all skin types thus, doesn't make my skin dry. No break-outs also after using it. I like that it can also prevent skin aging.

Will Recommend? Yes! I love using this especially when I came from outdoors if I feel that my face has been exposed to too much dirt and pollution. So, this is a treat to my skin.

Results from KB SILVER SOAP varied, the change can be felt around 3-4 weeks after application.

For more information or to order, visit Yumei Mi-se, I Love KB or Asian Sky Mall.

Ready To Homeschool – A Primer on Homeschooling

There is no better way to educate a child other than homeschooling. I've witnessed so many positive impacts this brought on my children. Not just academically, but more so, in their character and values.

I have been blessed to know first hand what are my children's struggles, fears, and even worries. It is a privilege to be able to assist them in trying times. We share so many struggles and victories on this journey and I know there will be more to come. Thanks be to God for His grace bestowed upon every homeschooling families. It may be stressful at times but it's also rewarding.

These and many others will not be possible had we not made this very important decision. So, if you are considering homeschooling or you want to know more about it, this is your chance!

Ready To Homeschool – A Primer on Homeschooling

Beyond The Silver and The GoldCondo Coach and The Event Detailer presents Ready To Homeschool – A Primer on Homeschooling by Michelle Padrelanan. Held at D’ Cup Coffee Republic on April 14, 2018, at 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., this learning event is for newbie homeschoolers and those who are exploring this educational option.

Homeschooling in the Philippines has slowly but surely gained popularity in the last 15 – 20  years. Previously seen as an educational method that was only available to young actors and actresses and the elite or rich, it is now a viable alternative to sending children to traditional schools. What is homeschooling and how is it done? Michelle Padrelanan plans to answer that and other questions pertaining to homeschooling that will give the attendee the confidence to homeschool their child.

Parents will also learn the pros and cons of homeschooling, how to start homeschooling, how to craft their family’s homeschool mission statement, how to handle major life events while homeschooling and where to enroll. As a bonus feature, attendees will receive a list of free homeschool resources that can be found online.

After the seminar, attendees will be Ready To Homeschool!  They will have the confidence to embark on their family’s homeschool journey with a vision of the future of their homeschooled children.

Michelle Padrelanan has been homeschooling their children since 2002. She has successfully graduated their two older children who are now thriving in college. Her passion for homeschooling has led her to create her blog in 2010, Beyond The Silver and The Gold, to encourage and inspire other families to homeschool.  She firmly believes that the key to nation building is building up a strong family. Therefore, parenting needs to be intentional. She and her husband work together to build up their children’s faith in God, develop their character and strengthen their family values. She is well-known in the homeschool community as an influencer, blogger, speaker, and a veteran homeschool mom.

Registration for Ready To Homeschool is ongoing at bit.ly/homeschoolmanda. Ticket price is P1,100.00.

Handicraft # 3: Loom Bands

Loom Bands

This is a quick and easy handicraft to do. From small rubber bands, you can make just anything out of it: bracelet, ring and any kind of accessories. Gabi learned doing this back in the days when he was still going to conventional school (before we decided to homeschool).

We recently attended a birthday party where we got these materials and my son just want to get a little crafty. For this handicraft, you will need bands and an S-clip and you're all set. You can also have different colors and make different patterns.

Loom Bands

To start this, you just have to twist one band to create a figure "8" and join it over so it makes a circle. Pinch one band between your finger or like my son you can use pencils. Then, slide the second band halfway through the circle you previously made. Pull the ends up and hold them together. Repeat until you were able to make a long one. Finally, secure it with the clip.

Loom Bands
Gabi made an anklet for me

Loom Bands
Bracelet

I remember doing this when we were kids We used to play rubber band games and this is one way of securing it. This is something you can offer to make those little hands busy, simple yet can be an excellent gift.
