Teaching Perseverance - Mt. Lubo Climb
Hubby and Gabi had a father and son adventure when they went on a hike with CCF Sports Ministry Members last November 12, 2016. They climbed Mt. Lubo in Tanay, Rizal.
When we received an invitation from Gabi's soccer coach for the trek, we were so delighted! I knew this will be a great bonding experience and an avenue to teach him character qualities. I wasn't able to join them since I need to take care of our toddler but I would love to have a family trek in the future.
Assembly time was 4:00 AM at CCF Main. They left there at 5:00 AM and arrived at Tanay Adventure Camp after roughly two hours. They rode a jeepney to Brgy. Laiban Base Camp and while on the ride, they prayed for the persecuted Christians. This was also the same day for the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Church.
At first, our son was so eager and energetic. But when he started to feel tired and every step became burdensome, he started complaining and thought of going back up. Good thing hubby was there to encourage him to move on and persevere.
Here's hubby's account of the event:
"Giving Gabi a goal was the key that he endured all hardships, the slips, and the muddy road. Our first goal was to reach the first summit, then goal number 2 was to swim in the waterfalls. These made him so eager and motivated to move on. He even uttered, "I should persevere to reach goal number 1 so I can move on to goal number 2."
"There were times during the hike where I also felt like giving up due to the physical toll on my body but seeing my son persevere inspired me in moving on."
"After reaching the summit, we took the road downhill heading to the waterfalls. Thinking that our way up is already the hardest part of the trail, we were mistaken as the road downhill was harder and more dangerous. It was steep and slippery. "
"We appreciated our guide very much. Kuya Owel, never left us behind. He held Gabi's hand most of the time especially during our descend. But of course, I would take advantage to hold his hand when possible or if it's not that hard."
Our kids were the first set of kids who conquered the trail to Mt. Lubo. It was really a hard trail. It was considered an intermediate level and not for beginners. There was a total of three summits but my boys went as far as the first one only, that was the goal. It was my boys' first trek together and I'm so proud of them!
We thank God for the opportunity to mentor Gabi and teach him life lessons. Teaching character requires modeling. Our kids learn by watching us, their parents. I'm glad that hubby took the time to be intentional and modeled perseverance to him.
It was a great experience for my boys. They enjoyed the breathtaking view of God's creation. All efforts paid off. They could have missed this beautiful scene if they did not persevere. During the breakout session, our son was able to share how he relates the experience to Christian faith.
The Christian life is never easy, it isn't storm-free. In fact, as our Pastor puts it, Christian life is impossible. However, knowing that God is with us to enable and strengthen us, should be our greatest motivation, not to mention the reward that awaits us.
"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." ~ James 1:12 NIV

#Ariel100StainsIn1Wash Challenge
Ariel is a concentrated detergent that gives you better stain removal in one wash versus twice the powder.
It has optimized its formulation which contains a higher level of active ingredients and smart enzymes.
The power of every wash leads to a worry-free laundry experience, allowing women to have more time for other things. Ariel's laundry detergent comes in both powder (Ariel Sunrise Fresh) and gel form (Ariel Powder Gel).

I'm one of the Moms who accepted the Ariel 100 Stains in 1 Wash Challenge. I tried the Ariel Powder Gel and I'd like to share with you the video of the test:
If you are not convinced with the result, you can try it yourself at home and share how it goes.
Thanks Mommy Mundo for sending the test kit. Special thanks also to my Videographer/Editor, my ever supportive husband, Romel.

REVIEW: Mamy Poko Diaper Pants
My second son, Gael started with disposable diapers when he was born. We don't venture on trying different brands but instead, we used a tried and trusted brand for years. It was the same diaper that we used in our first born.
Our journey with cloth diaper started when he was 11 months. We decided to "supplement" to save money and since CDs are eco-friendly. But it wasn't for long, we grew tired of the washing routine and since the baby is growing up, he is becoming a heavy wetter. So, we switched back to disposables.
When he entered the "terrific two" stage, putting a diaper on him is a real struggle! We resolved to use diaper pants. It was summer season during that time and we noticed that he is having heat rash on the waist area, so we stopped and went back to the original tape type that we've been using.
I haven't tried any Mamy Poko Diaper in the past. I just saw them in departments stores and I remember one cousin recommended it. But I don't like spending money for testing purposes especially since I already have a trusted brand. Good thing, Lazada PH sent me a sample of Mamy Poko Pants Diaper last December.

| This is how it fits on my LO. He is using XL here, so I guess we need a smaller size |
Verdict:
Absorption: Good. It leaves baby's skin dry after wee wee. I tried it overnight and when I touched the diaper full of wee wee, it is still feeling dry.
Texture/Feeling: Extra soft
Fitting: Fast and easy to wear which is good for toddlers. I love that it fits like a brief and not square-shaped which is common on tape type diapers.
Design: I love the Blue color (there's also pink for girls) with 6 designs of Pooh. At least it is from a familiar character which makes the little one excited to wear.
Source: Easy to find, available in department stores, supermarkets and for those who doesn't have time to go out, you can also order it online thru Lazada PH.
Notes to add:
The size that I got is XL which is good for 12-17 kg. Since my little one is kinda petite, it looks bigger and loose. I guess I need a smaller size for him. Gael didn't get rashes on this diaper, although I need to test this during summer to see if it will give him heat rash. Overall, this is good diaper pants.
Thanks, Lazada PH and Mamy Poko for this sample. You can order this online here.

2016 Highlights
Happy New Year Everyone!
To kick-off my year, I just want to look back and have a rundown of our 2016 highlights. We don't do New Year's resolution but we want to thank God for His goodness this past year. So, let's start!
1. Becoming Dgroup Leaders. This is one of my answered prayers. In obedience to the greatest commission to go and make disciples (Matt. 28:19), Dad finally step-up! Although God is not yet giving us members, I'm so proud of hubby for making this big decision.
2. CCF Football Club. We started praying for a football club with affordable rates eversince Gabi showed interest in football. God did not fail us and He gave us CCF Football Club. Gabi is now an active member of this group.
3. I quit my position and the corporate job. I worked as a Supervisor in an ITO Company and decided to leave so we can focus more on our kids and homeschooling. It was a tough decision for our family but I have no regrets at all. You can read more about this leap of faith here.
4. Goodbye, helper. Our helper (who's also my Tita) for more than 5 years bid farewell to take care of her own granddaughter. She's not getting any younger and she's getting sick during her last few days of serving us. Although it was hard, we took this opportunity to be hands-on with the kids and at home.

5. Blogging. I was able to finally start blogging. When I created this site way back 2014, I wasn't really committed to doing this. Staying at home gave me the opportunity to take it seriously. I was able to join some events and meet new friends. Blogging has been a blessing to me and my family.
6. Homeschool Coop. We finally started our mini coop. Mini because it is currently composed of 3 families as of writing. We are also praying for new members in our group. Our coop has been a blessing to us in so many ways.
Here's our coop's year-end celebration:
7. Home based job. God blessed me with a home based job. Since we cannot afford single income, I still need to help the husband to alleviate our finances. I was initially looking for a night shift job so I can still homeschool in the morning, but God's plan is better. We adjusted our homeschool schedule, so now, I'm enjoying my mid-shift. No more graveyard shifts.
8. New Cars and Business for Nanay. Although these are not ours, we celebrate and rejoice with our Nanay. Dad is the one managing it and we are thankful for his servant heart.
9. 3 years of homeschooling. Year after year I always thought of giving up, but as I was always reminded that this is our calling, we still go on and allow God to carry us through it. As you know, homeschooling is not easy and I'm grateful to God because He has been my strength and enabler. Read more here about our journey.
10. New work for Dad. Hubby and I used to work in the same company. He also resigned from his position and got a new job with a better workload and better schedule. We can now sleep together at night and enjoy holidays off with the kids.

These are the major highlights of our past year and we are thankful to God for leading our path and guiding us along the way. There's just so much to thank God about. It may not be a smooth and easy year because of a lot of adjustments, but our God is faithful. He never leave us and He is with us all the time.
As we face this New Year 2017, we keep our focus on God and trust Him to lead us. We may not know what lies ahead, but God knew. For me, that is enough. We want to start this year with an expectant heart. We're excited about what God has in store for us this year!
